Marimekko's famous poppy pattern Unikko was created in 1964, at a time when the design house's collections were primarily characterised by abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something new and special from this organic theme and designed a whole series of flower patterns. Today, the iconic flower stands for creativity and individuality.
